A juice of mistaken identity.
I am on day 5 of my juice fast. DAY 5!! I MADE IT TO DAY 5!!!! I'm as surprised as you are. Foodie Fran has not eaten anything in 5 days and I feel FRANTASTIC! I'll admit the first few days were a little trying but not nearly as bad as I had imagined them to be. The hunger wasn't really an issue but that may be because I started meal replacements a few days before my fast. What bothered me the most was the lack of energy. I felt like a newborn baby drinking a bottle. I could fall asleep anywhere, doing anything and wouldn't have even cared if all I was wearing was a diaper... just kidding... but not really. I was tired.
While I'm trying to juice the majority of my "meals" I find it very hard to juice every single one. To help out my ridiculously busy lifestyle.. and pure laziness.. I have purchased a variety of juices by Bolthouse Farms. They're delicious, nutritious, and some other word that rhymes with delicious.
Anyhoo, as I was trying to get to the gym yesterday I quickly grabbed a juice out of the refrigerator. I THOUGHT I had grabbed a Green Goodness which is a delightful blend of fruits and veggies... but that was far from reality. Instead I grabbed a Green Leaf something or some junk. Oh, I was in for a surprise... I hurried the kids into the car so we could run a few errands before pumping the iron and took a big swig! I was not prepared for what hit my taste buds. Instead of the sweet wonderfulness they call goodness.. it was a sour, bitter, horrible, vomity taste of horribleness. At first I thought it had gone bad! Something is seriously wrong with this juice!!! Then I caught a glance of the label.. and I realized it was supposed to taste that way.... Oh, how sad it must be to enjoy those things...
I wasn't able to finish the bottle because of the rancid taste it left in my mouth. I had to chug as much as I could and chase it with water and a piece of gum. I gave the rest of it to the trash can because that's where trash goes. I felt a little pride in knowing I had finished over half the bottle.. until I started working out and was given the wonderful opportunity to start tasting it again. Oh what a joy it was..
All in all I'm very pleased with how my fast is going. My 7 year old is absolutely OBSESSED with juicing and trying new recipes. He helps keep me going by drinking them right along with me. (He's also eating real food, though. I'm not THAT insane.. yet.)
Juice Fast Day 5 Official Report: I don't like green juice. I'm a juicing beast. Hear me roar. ROAR!!
